WorkSafeBC has provided no fault insurance coverage to BC fishermen since 1975.

In January 1995, WCB of BC introduced Canada’s first and only Provincial fishing specific safety regulations.  WorkSafeBC safety officers conduct fishing vessel inspections to monitor compliance with these regulations.  Fishing Vessel masters are expected to have a documented safety program on board to ensure the safety of all on board.
