$95,000 raised for kids bravely battling cancer
Every year members of the local BC commercial fishing community including Fish Safe are inspired by our brave and courageous young ones who battle cancer each and every day.
On December 3rd, 150 volunteers participated in the sale of over 70 tons of herring in Richmond and Victoria. Organized by the foundation Fishermen Helping Kids With Cancer, more than $95,000 was raised with 100% of the proceeds being spent on kids who are being treated for cancer at BC Children's Hospital.
Amazingly, the weather couldn't have been better during the 5-6 critical hours of the event - beautiful sunshine and light winds stood in contrast to the miserable, rainy and windy days that preceded and immediately followed the event.
To everyone involved and to all the organizers, heartfelt kudos go out to you for a job well done!!!
