Fishing Is Canada's Most Deadly Sector - Report

A comprehensive, months-long Globe and Mail investigation of workplace deaths found fishing was Canada's most deadly sector - the full report can be found here: https://beta.theglobeandmail.com/news/investigations/fishing-industry-deadliest-sector-canada/article36725324/

(The online version of the article is an interesting, interactive post that includes engaging video snippets throughout.)

An analysis of incidents and attitudes towards safety among fishermen from coast to coast is part of the findings.  Additionally, and importantly, the impact upon families who are left to pick up the pieces after tragedy strikes is highlighted throughout.

Although heartening to read that "...British Columbia has become a leader in encouraging safe practices among fishermen", for anyone involved in the commercial fishing safety field, including those of us at Fish Safe, the article is a sobering reminder that there is yet much work to be done.
