The Small Domestic Vessel Basic Safety (SDV-BS) course is an essential Transport Canada minimum requirement for virtually every commercial fisherman in Canada. Learn the basics of cold water survival, making a mayday call, fire fighting, using flares and much more!

For BC commercial fishermen, Fish Safe delivers this course free of charge via its Safest Catch program on board your vessel where it is appropriate to do so. Use the “fisherman button” to register.

Certification: A Small Domestic Vessel Basic Safety (SDV-BS) certificate will be issued by Transport Canada to all course graduates.

Age requirement: min. 15 years of age

1 day course.

Please note that a minimum of 5 participants are required for a classroom SDV-BS course to proceed. If the minimum requirement is not met one week before the start of the course, Fish Safe will be in contact to offer a full refund of the course registration fee.
