The Fish Safe Advisory committee decided to form a subcommittee to address some close calls experienced during a foggy chum fishery on the Fraser River in 2013. The subcommittee, "Fraser River Safety Committee", met in May of 2014 and consisted of 22 marine users who wanted to address collision avoidance on the river in advance of the anticipated busy 2014 salmon season.

The Working Safely on the Fraser River brochure was updated in 2021 to include CLEAR TRANSIT AREAS. These are indicated in PINK on the maps.
