WorkSafeBC Claims Process

This is a reminder for fishermen who may become injured during the fishing season.  Although many might tend to wait until in port or until the end of the season to report their claim to WorkSafeBC, there are benefits to reporting while at sea, if possible.

By reporting at sea, WorkSafeBC can set up a claim to help ensure that support for medical attention like physio, doctor’s appointments, etc. can be expedited once an injured worker is home

The process for reporting a claim is straightforward:

- Injured workers should call WorksafeBC to report an injury at 1-888-967-5377

- The employer (vessel master) should fill out and submit Form 7F.  They can then fax or mail it to WorkSafeBC at the number/address noted on the form.  The form is available HERE.

Even if the vessel master has to wait until ashore to fax/mail his form, injured crew can phone in their injury right away to WorkSafeBC at the number above.
